ITINERARY:
Day 1, 2 & 3:

Clients fly by light aircraft charter from Lusaka to Mfuwe and spend 3 nights at Kapani Safari Lodge on a fully inclusive basis. Kapani Safari Lodge is an exclusive, privately owned lodge, accommodating only 20 guests and is situated on a large lagoon overlooking the Luangwa River. The ten brick and thatch rooms are designed for warmer weather, with high ceilings, overhead fans and large gauzed windows. Each of the 8 standard suites has an en-suite bathroom, lounge and a bar fridge. Two lagoon houses overlook the Kapani Lagoon, are very private and spacious with en-suite facilities. Game viewing is tailored to client preferences, and usually small parties are driven in the park twice daily in open vehicles. Night drives with a spotlight are one of the highlights of the Luangwa Valley. The 3 nights spent in the South Luangwa National Park can be enjoyed between 3 walking trails bush camps where clients enjoy the days walking and exploring the African bush. A combination of Kapani Safari Lodge and 2 of the bush camps are an ideal and popular choice.

Day 4 & 5:

After breakfast, clients fly by light aircraft charter from Mfuwe to Kayila Lodge for 2 nights on a fully inclusive basis. On the banks of the Zambezi River, overlooking the Mana Pools National Park shoreline, is the exclusive 12 bedded Kayila Lodge. There are 3 beautifully appointed twin thatched ensuite lodges, a honeymoon suite with sunken bath, a family lodge and built 30 feet up an African Sausage Tree, the famous Kayila treehouse. There are various activities to choose from including bush walks with an armed professional guide, hikes to the nearby escarpment, game viewing by boat or vehicle or simply relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6, 7 & 8:

After breakfast, clients fly by light aircraft charter or transfer by boat to Jeki and spend the next 3 nights at Mwambashi River Lodge on a fully inclusive basis. Situated deep within the relatively unexplored Lower Zambezi National Park, directly opposite Chikwenya Island, lies Mwambashi River Lodge. Mwambashi accommodates 16 guests in large comfortable East African-style safari tents on raised wooden platforms. Each unit has an en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin. Mwambashi offers great wildlife viewing opportunities and conducts night drives, sundowner cruises and short canoe trips.

Day 9 & 10:

After breakfast, clients fly by light aircraft charter to Lusaka and then onto Livingstone by scheduled or charter flight. Clients transfer by road to Thorntree River Lodge for 2 nights on a fully inclusive basis. Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, within the renowned Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and just 15 km upstream from the spectacular Victoria Falls, lies the secluded Thorntree River Lodge. Each of the 9 en-suite units has a private verandah. Thorntree River Lodge offers its guests a personal African experience with a wide choice of activities available. These include sunset cruises, game drives, cultural tours and visits to the Falls.

Day 11:

After breakfast, clients are transferred to Livingstone airport.
Add-on:

A popular add-on option for birders is to spend 2 or 3 nights at Lechwe Plains Tented Camp in the Lochinvar National Park. Lechwe Plains is situated in an acacia grove on the fringe of the Chunga Lagoon, overlooking the Kafue floodplains. A World Heritage Wetlands Site, Lochinvar National Park is home to over 428 bird species, thousands of aquatic Kafue Lechwe, 2 000 blue wildebeest and 700 zebra. Buffalo, greater kudu, bushbuck, oribi, hippo, reedbuck, waterbuck and the elusive Sitatunga are also regularly seen.
