Namutoni is situated at the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern side of the Etosha National Park.
The rest camp centres around a historic German fort dating back to 1903 and declared a national monument in 1950. At sunrise and sunset bugle calls accompany the hoisting and lowering of the Namibian flag.
Namutoni opened to tourists in 1958 and over the years has been developed to offer comfortable chalet accommodation for visitors wanting to explore this great park with its many water holes and 144 mammal species.
Other facilities include a well-equipped camp site, a shop, bar, restaurant, swimming pool, filling station and a floodlit artesian spring just outside the camp perimeter.
Rest camps must be reached before sunset and may only be left after sunrise. Park fees must be paid at Namutoni before proceeding thought the park.
Other rest camps in Etosha include, Okaukuejo and Halali.
