Erongo Wilderness Lodge![]() The Erongo region, which encompasses the town of Omaruru, is characterised by colourful landscapes, ancient rock art and strange geological phenomena. The ten luxury tented chalets with overhanging thatched roofs, are built on stilts so as to merge with the surrounding environment. The chalets, secluded among the rocks, boulders and vegetation, are accessed by a system of raised wooden walkways and stone steps, creating an atmosphere of African mystery when lit by small brass lamps at night. An exclusive attraction of the lodge is the fully serviced tree house. Rooms are equipped with mosquito netting and bathrooms have showers only. The restaurant and pub have been built on another rocky outcrop with a 360 degree view of huge rocks and tree-filled valleys. The deck overlooking the swimming pool, which has been built between rocks, offers a view towards the Erongo Mountains, which are renowned for the rock art found at sites such as Paula’s Cave. Guests may join guided walks where a range of endemic trees and birds can be seen or relax at one of the stone hides near the waterhole where mountain zebra, kudu, gemsbok, springbok, klipspringer and Damara dik dik come down to drink. This is one of Namibia’s most diverse environments, and Erongo Wilderness Lodge provides the ideal way to experience it. ACCOMMODATION IN NAMIBIA: |
