Mala Mala Harry's Camp

Mala Mala Harry’s Camp - recognised internationally as 'the camp with a difference' is located in the central area of Mala Mala Game Reserve. It has an “African Cultural” safari theme - that of the traditional, creative Ndebele tribe of South Africa. The Ndebele are renowned for the manner in which they decorate their homes in a myriad of colours, each depicting a specific message. This image, together with the special safari experience that is synonymous with Mala Mala Game Reserve, makes Mala Mala Harry’s Camp a unique safari destination.

Harry’s Camp remains the smallest and most intimate of the camps in the Mala Mala Game Reserve. Occupying an ideal elevated site, on the banks of the perennial Sand River, the Ndebele-styled and decorated buildings of Harry’s Camp, offer a wonderful view of the river and the African bush. The camp is clustered amidst mature, indigenous trees that sweep down to the river’s edge.

The emphasis at Harry’s is on outdoor living with most meals being served under the open African sky. Breakfast and lunch are enjoyed on the magnificent wooden deck beneath the shady canopy of a majestic Jakkalsbessie tree or in the air-conditioned dining room. Dinner is served in the Ndebele styled “Kraal” around a traditional campfire. A large terrace and an air-conditioned bar, with floor to ceiling windows, further enhance the game viewing experience at Harry’s.

The accommodation consists of twelve en-suite twin rooms. As Harry’s Camp never accommodates more than 24 people, guests appreciate the wonderful, relaxed and informal atmosphere of the bush and will enjoy a total escape. Harry’s caters for the more informal visitor to Mala Mala Game Reserve and the emphasis is “Harry-casual”. It has the Mala Mala game viewing and friendly service that has made Mala Mala Game Reserve world famous.
