Savute Under Canvas is an exclusive semi permanent safari camp in Botswana's central Chobe National Park. Featuring just six superlative ensuite safari tents, Savute Under Canvas allows guests to experience the pristine beauty of Botswana and its unrivalled wildlife at its best.

During the rainy season, Savute, a famous corner of Chobe National Park hosts the annual zebra migration, which peaks in January and February when the zebra and wildebeest congregate in vast numbers to graze on the sweeter grasses brought on by the rains. It is not uncommon to also catch sight of leopard, cheetah and African wild dog. Savute also supports the greatest concentration of the king of all beasts - the lion.

The landscape of Savute is strikingly different from the lush Chobe riverfront, with an almost desert-like feeling that has animals escaping the heat by grouping together in the limited available shade. The stark dead trees found in the dry Savute channel are evidence of an erratic flow of the Savute River over the years.

Bookable on a nightly basis, each semi permanent tent boasts a double bed, ensuite bathroom, separate w.c. and hot water bucket shower - this is the ultimate in luxury camping.

The guest areas comprise comfortable tents for dining, meeting for a pre-dinner drink, or just for whiling the time away between safaris - complete with private butler service, delicious Pan African meals, and traditional bush dinners served under the stars. Activities include exhilarating; twice-daily game drives in semi-open 4x4 safari vehicles.

The Savute area is renowned for its predator interaction, especially between lion and hyena. It offers some of the biggest lion prides in Botswana and sightings of the elusive wild dog and leopard are not uncommon. In the dry season, guests have the opportunity to view large elephant bulls congregating by a waterhole in search of a thirst-quenching drink (and the occasional mud bath). Visitors can bear witness to the awe-inspiring spectacle of the annual zebra migration in October, November and again in March and April.

Experience exciting daily game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles through the unspoilt Chobe National Park, Botswana.
